Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has had a difficult period, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since March of 2023.

The win also means he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.

The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
